Sneakerness asked some sneaker heads and influencers from all over the world 3 questions.
Here you go with Matheus from Mutta Shoes Brazil!
Why did you started collecting sneakers?
I always tought that the shoes are the best way you can stand out in a crowd. I’ve started collecting and researching them when I was 16.
In my youth in Brasil, kids were so used to the same similar sneakers, so if you showed up with something fresh, people thought I was from another country! So I found out quick that it’s all about the shoes.
First sneaker you can remember being your favorite?
I remember when I got my hands on my first Timbos “The yellow Boot”. I wore them a lot pretty quick. But it was such a distinct silouette for that time in Brasil that it was a important step in my route to the footwear industry. So I gathered the things I liked on some brands with the things I was not finding on any of them and started on working to fulfill that need for well designed, great material and finishing quality with and extra special packaging kind of shoes.
Which sneaker do you think is overhyped?
its not a bad thing for shoes to be overhyped. It’s just that the overhyped shoes these days are made in the same factories, by the same underpayed workers with the same materials and technics as all the other regular ones. To take it to the next level, you should really introduce something fresh in every possible way . Its that “oh shit” moment that we rarelly get to see nowadays.
