3 Questions, 3 Answers – Lain – Creative of the Sneakerness Poster Exhibition

Sneakerness asked the creatives of the Posters 3 questions.

Here you go with Lain!

When did Art become a part of your life, how have you been influenced?
It became a more important part in my life in my early Twenties. Before I was just sketching – for fun. Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by the visual languages of subcultures, such as skateboarding, graffiti or streetball.

Your relation to sneakers?
When I was 12 years old, I wanted to be a sneaker designer for Nike. Like most kids in 1993 I was playing a lot of streetball, I think that’s where the wish came from. Nowadays, I still like to wear sneakers but I have never collected them. I have maybe 30 pairs which I all wear.

What’s the meaning behind your illustration/picture/painting?
There is no deeper meaning behind it.
The artwork is based on an acrylic painting I did in 2011. The painting is part of a „modern still life“ series I was working on. Still lifes with stuff that I had around me: A sneaker, an ashtray, a vinyl toy and a stuffed bird in this case.
