In 2008, one of the collaborative projects of the year was on two versions of the split-tongue runner. Named the “Kirimomi Project,” the design idea behind the sneakers come from respective Japanese philosophies.
Patent leather with mesh underlay are featured on both versions of the Kirimomi Project GEL Lyte III. For the purple and black colorway, patent leather takes up a majority of the upper including the perforated toebox. Special additions to this colorway include polka dots added around the toe, which are also featured on the ankle and laces. A speckled and reptile print midsole finished off the design for this particular colorway.
