Sneakerness asked some sneakerheads and influencers from all over the world 3 questions.
Here you go with Overkill’s First Lady – Amelie von Wunderbar!
Why did you start collecting sneakers?
I think the whole passion started back when I was a young kid. My Dad used to travel a lot to New York due to his job. Each time he came back he brought me a pair of dope sneakers. Mainly Nike & Reebok, as he was a passionated runner & because of his foreign roots, shoes were also a status symbol for a good & reckless life. He was rocking sneakers like the AM1 OG and Reebok Classics – this setted my love to sneakers on fire. During my school years, in the age of 16, I was getting deeper into the sneaker-game. 2003 I bought my first pair of Nike Sneakers- The Air Max wmns SC sport royal. I really beated them, but I was hungry, so I started to buy, collect and hunt my first love, the AM1.
First sneaker you can remember being your favorite?
My all-time-favorite sneakers for now & then were and are the Air Max 1 wmns sports red & the AM 1 BRS arisen from Nikes well known Powerwall.
Which sneaker do you think is overhyped?
Overhyped is a negative connotaded word. I decided to answer this question the other way around, and put this word in a positive suit. As a passionated Swoosh-Collector I was never in touch with Adidas. My impression of the three stripes rapidly changed after I setted one’s wits to the huge history that stands behind the brand. The brand’s new & innovative model, the ZX FLUX, is, in my opinion, a groundbreaking idea of mixing Lifestyle and Performance together. Using the ZX 8000 Silhouette, wraping it into a perfectly shaped & slimed version of the Legend, Adidas is showing of with a stunning inline series… not to mention the creative & never-seen-before upper-prints… I’m really looking forward to every single release of the ZX FLUX model. Overhyped? Yes! But absolutely deserved!
