Sneakerness asked some sneakerheads and influencers from all over the world 3 questions.
Here you go with Quincy Renon a.k.a Kwills
Why did you started collecting sneakers?
Because of heel bruise during skateboarding.
During the late 1980s – early 1990s there wasn’t much technology available to skateboardshoes as there is today.
So somewhere in 1996 after suffering for the umpteenth time i decided to look for some kind of runner shoe because i knew they were built to withstand high impact landing. So in 1996 i bought my first pair of Air Max 1994. And sure they were the most comfortable shoes i ever owned to that point. Needless to say, after that it spiraled into buying more shoes because of the comfort and somewhat the looks.
First sneaker you can remember being your favorite?
Nike Air Max 1994 purple punch hands down for the comfort and the éS footwear SLB to skate in.
Still looking for them to add to my collection.
Which sneaker do you think is overhyped?
In today’s market everything seems to move in circles, people create the hype themselves.
Times have changed for a fact, the newer generation are growing up with the new releases which in the future will be their grails. Without sounding too much as a granddad, I come from a time where i’ve seen most shoes come out for the first time and people just buying them for its mostly intended purpose, those shoes are now considered “hype”.
One minute a certain shoe is “hyped” until the next one comes along and after a few years that certain shoe is “hyped” again due to less availability.
“Hype” comes down to the whole supply-demand equation, the less shoes there are the higher the demand.
The thing that bothers me most is that everyone is buying everything the minute it gets released and reselling immediately for too much money, rather than buying the shoes to wear and enjoy them.
