In our latest interview we talked to Denis Falkenstein, Co-founder of of everysize.com, the first sneaker search engine, where you can find your shoes in your size. The guys already have 18K shoes from over 80 different brands available and so we asked him a few questions:
How did you get into sneakers?
It all started with Skateboarding 15 years ago. We skated every day, made clips and have been on the board all day and night. As the shoes got destroyed pretty fast, it was a very expensive hobby.
That was the time, when we used Shoe Goo quite a lot, as we could not afford to buy new shoes every month. Style was secondary at this stage, it was more important to have shoes, which you could skate in. So we were always on the hunt for the right size of bargains in our local skateshop or fixing our old, used Sneakers. When the first éS Koston K3 came out, I was stoked. The style was outstanding and Koston´s shoe was something different and the style got me. It all started with that shoe and from that time on, I was also looking at skate shoes from a style perspective. I always begged my mother to buy me more shoes, but you can imagine that she was not pretty happy about that.
I then got into Graffiti and slowly got into Air Max 1´s, Superstars, Suedes and started buying more shoes and not only for skating.
When did you know you were hooked?
I started working for a big German Onlineshop for Sneakers and Streetwear as a photographer many years ago. Due the fact, that I got the shoes for the purchasing price, I bought more and more Sneakers as I had an easy access to all the products.
Which sneaker do you think should make a comeback?
There are quite a few shoes but there´s one Sneaker, which I really would like to see back at the shelves: the adidas Icon Kid. Great Shoe, which is a bit underrated in my opinion.
