Sneakerness asked some sneakerheads and influencers from around the globe three questions.
We talked to Alexander Scharf from The Upper Club.
How did you get into sneakers?
My first contact with sneakers was around 13-15 years ago. Back in the day I hung out with my brother from another mother Severin in his small flat and he already had a huge collection. Those different models, colours and diversity were just fascinating to me. Being part of the graffiti scene most of the writers I met rocked Nike Air Max 1. I think that was the beginning of my personal Sneaker Love Story.
When did you know you were hooked?
That just came about step by step. Before hanging around at Severin’s flat I was already attracted when someone had great shoes on. The fact that I was a schoolboy with a small income just prevented me from copping the shit that I wanted to. It got deeper and deeper while surfing on Sneaker.TV, Kicksxchange and Crooked Tongues (R.I.P.). We regularly had “Sneaker Stammtisch” meetings, where I met other sneakerheads,
which intensified my addiction.
Which sneaker do you think should make a comeback?
There are so many great models but as we all know when an old silhouette comes back most of the time the magic is lost. So I have no special wish about it, I will go with the flow on this one.
