The second part of Sneakerness in Vienna was amazing. Thank you for all who took part of it. Unlike to the last venue, this time it took place in a palace, which was a great contrast to sneakers. Again, thank you and see you hopefully at the next Sneakerness! More pictures coming soon.

Here we go with the second edition of Sneakerness in Vienna. See you tomorrow at Palais Schönborn! Get ready!

For the first time, Sneakerness will take place in a palace called Schönborn Palais. We are very excited to welcome you there this Saturday October 9th 2010.

WASTED GERMAN YOUTH pays respect to the german language and some german music, parallelly paying tribute to hardcore punk and electronic. it embraces the beauty and the insanity of rave culture and acknowledges what berlin does best.

“i was sitting some sunday morning, in the garden at tresor, it was love parade, it was hot and the buzz was very good and all around, me, everyone, so super wang. i turned to my friend and said… these kids, all so fucked up. all of them, so off their fuckin faces. just wasted german youth. its just… WASTED GERMAN YOUTH”

that was 1999. 6 years later the time was right for a logo and some stickers, the first tshirts were printed up and crazily enough history was written. so with a couple of ideas and a zero euro marketing budget, wasted german youth exploded in true underground style. today, the tshirts are to be seen on the streets and discos and everywhere, and the internet has become a showdown of dodgy fakes and wasted bootlegs.

despite WASTED GERMAN YOUTH being basically just graphic design on a tshirt, maybe fashion and or even possibly art, it yet again proves itself not to be a passing trend, but a concept to acknowledge, and a lifestyle to live, and that proudly and true.

Shoes With Pockets:

The CoilR1 was one of the top selling running shoes in 1989. Now he’s back… in full effect. The legendary Dynacoil system (invented by the NASA!) stands for comfort and durabilty even if you just want to run down the streets. New colourways are added and more are coming out soon… See some of the new styles of KangaROOS at the Sneakerness in Vienna.

Tillmann Lauterbach was born in 1977 in Bonn, Germany, and raised on the Spanish island of Ibiza until the age of seven.
After working in various fields, including artistic design and modeling, in 2000 he enrolled at Paris’s famous Esmod Fashion College.
He graduated as a pattern cutter and Designer two years later, having won the award for the best women’s collection in his year.

Founded in a small Village in Greenwich Market in 1989, Boxfresh is now established more than ever. First plimsoles were a niche, now Plimsoles are the must have of the season and boxfresh is controlling that business.

Faithfully on the concept „DESIGNED FOR SPORT, CRAFTED FOR LIFE”, Nike Sportswear dedicates its running roots at the Sneakerness 2010 and presents the two topics running and lifestyle with the slogan „MORE THAN THE RUN “.
Six different teams opened themselves up to interpret this topic and struck the bridge between these two worlds in the form of pictures and particularly designed running team patches.

Each day we present one of the six teams to you and show, what came up by the most creative heads of the Sneakerness of this year.

Modern Americana meets Sneaker Original

The American Sneaker-Specialists presents for fall/winter a broad range of authentic footwear with a several amounts of new colours and materials. The Plimsole-Outrider lies with the slim silhouette in trend and let them combine with the trendy Skinny Pants. More about it here (ger) and their fall/winter collection.

„Shoes need pockets!“ – or something along these lines screamed the passionate b-baller, runner and KangaROOS founder Bob Gamm, when he tried to stash away his keys before one of his jogging endeavors. With the invention of the shoe pocket, the smart architect not only made his own workout easier, but that of many other joggers around the globe. Unlike many other gimmicks, this one had a real purpose and gave the shoes an added value.

Founded in the late 70s, “SuperShoes” quickly became a household name and turned into one of the leading brands in the sports shoe segment. The special style of the KangaROOS of the early 80s manifested itself in many iconic running and basketball models that exerted an influence far beyond the decade. The “ROOS”, as Americans soon abbreviated the brand name, celebrated an enormous success. Among the reasons was also the commitment in the NFL and NBA. Their most prominent ROOS testimonials were football player Walter “Sweetness” Payton and basketball legend Clyde “the Glide” Drexler.

Today, KangaROOS again celebrates the Chicago Bears star of the 80s with a reissue of the ROOS Sweetness. It’s part of the anniversary “Heritage Lines”, just as the legendary basketball model “Slam Dunk”, which is also reborn and much anticipated by sneakerfans worldwide. Affili’Art: A unique program that brings together the worlds of art and fashion.

For fall/winter 2010 the Affili’Art collection pays tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat’s strong use of color and his bold messages. This collection aims to capture the direct and meaningful attitude of some of Basquiat’s most famous printings. More about the collection here and their Pressrelease (ger).

Ame Designs in connection with the brand Puma should represent the hip-hop scene including part of its history, being a status symbol for the dancers and all members of the scene and, of course, the whole culture.

A worldwide youth culture trend for thousands of Members all over the world is created.

Element footwear will be part of the Sneakerness in Vienna again, showing some single pairs of the new element “Emerald Collection” and some classics from the element footwear collection.

With the Sneakerness series 2010 element Europe started a charitable art project at the same time. With the mantra “Future Is Nature” in each city an artist placed his/her individual work on a canvas. More about it here (ger).

The Red Bull Music Academy brings us Bobbito Garcia for a lecture at the Sneakerness and the Breakdance-, DJ- and Sneakerlegende will “talk out of a shoebox”. Here a small goody from the archives of the Red Bull Music Academy Radio: Notting Hill Carnival 2011.

Onitsuka Tiger by Asics

Asics feiert 2009 den 60sten Geburtstag mit einer eigenen Spezial-Kollektion: den Zodiac Sneakern. Die 12 Tiere des japanischen Horoskops bekommen ihre eigenen Sneaker. So hat etwa der holländische Comiczeichner Erik Kriekk einen Fabre designed, der sich dem Hasen widmet. Fesche Tiersneaker gibt es auch für Pferde, Schaf und AffenliebhaberInnen.

Das Zapateria Sneakerness Adidas Originals Line Up widmet sich zum größten Teil dem Thema Retro Running. Neben dem ZX in vielen Farb- und Materialvariationen haben wir auch ein Paar Micropacer am Start. Dieser Schuh aus den 80er Jahren hat einen kleinen LCD-Computer eingebaut, der jeden deiner Schritte zählt. Für alle Retroliebhaber haben wir noch etwas ganz Besonderes: Direkt aus Herzogenaurach kommen drei Adidas Museumssneaker eingeflogen.
